Speaker: Michael E Peterson DVM, MS (Norwest Lakeland Terriers)

Michael's father was a professional handler and started the family in Lakeland Terriers in 1968. Michael took over the Norwest kennel in 1988. He has bred and owner handled Lakelands since he was 16 years old. Michael is a graduate of Washington State University's college of Veterinary medicine in 1983, and a master's degree in Toxicology from the University of Arizona in 1994. He practices small animal medicine with areas of concentration in canine reproduction and toxicology. His veterinary experience encompasses 11 years of emergency and critical care and 25 years as a daytime practitioner.

He has two veterinary textbooks,  “Small Animal Toxicology” (Peterson/Talcott) in multiple languages and editions and “Small Animal Pediatrics: the first 1 year of life” (Peterson/Kutzler). He has also authored over 60 book chapters and hundreds of hours of professional lectures. He has been on the faculty of two Pac 12 Universities.
